I am photographing light and shadows, and time and space. Exploring these intangible entities, I am tapping into an other-worldly place that is ever present in our reality.
Without conscious planning and fueled by a curiosity and desire to escape the ordinary and scripted, I photograph in low light and during the night. There is a point where light and darkness fuse together to create moments that are seemingly further away than the physical world.
The photographer Gregory Crewdson describes some of his work as “moments of transcendence, where one is transported to another place.” Similarly, in my work, these transcendental windows appear to me in the surrounding environment, shaped by light and shadows.
Searching for these in between moments allows me to come in contact with a dream-like, surreal world. This world lets me see and feel the intangible, and temporarily transports me to another place.
